Functional Training

In parternship with DESMOTEC and under the expert guidance of David Migliore with Evolution Sports Lab, we now offer conditioning and functional training services particularly focused on youth athlete development.

With his detailed and progressive approach to training, David Migliore has helped improve athletic performance for many athletes in sports such as soccer, baseball, football, lacrosse, basketball, tennis, volleyball and softball. Many of his athletes have moved on to the collegiate level and have excelled at their sport. His passion is teaching young athletes the fundamentals of athleticism which leads to keeping them injury free. David follows the same training approach for adults who choose to remain active and want to live a healthier life. Using cutting edge methods, David has designed training programs specific to the athlete’s sport and injury risk factors.  Sample Topics Covered: Acceleration & Speed Mechanics (Form Running), Improve first-step Quickness in any direction, Increase Foot Speed, Athletic Balance & Coordination, Increase Change of Direction efficiency, Functional Total Body Strength, Injury Prevention Exercises (ACL, Rotator Cuff, etc…). David holds a BS degree in Exercise Science from GA State University and is a NSCA Certified Personal Trainer.

DESMOTEC isoinertial training is a revolutionary resistance training technology that was initially developed to combat muscle and bone loss during NASA space travel.  This system delivers proven results in both conditioning and rehabilitation programs. DESMOTEC has been adopted by many first tier elite athletes, national sports federations,  professional sports franchises, and sport clubs such as:  Juventus FC, Paris SG, Montreal Impact (video HERE), Miami FC, Indianapolis Colts, Miami Dolphins, Washington Capitals,  Brooklyn Nets, Montreal Canadians and most recently also the USA Ski and Snowboard Federation.  In addition, DESMOTEC proprietary software provides users with complete control over the training session via a safe, progressive, and monitored path.

Scientific studies on isoinertial training have shown that this type of training stimulates more muscle growth and strength and results in a higher degree of muscle activation by the nervous system compared to traditional weight training (Download Desmotec Scientific Articles_Abstract) .This technology therefore helps athletes improve their strength and flexibility and results in optimal performance while reducing the risk of injury – in Soccer, American Football and Hockey, this is particularly effective for hamstring and ACL injuries. And because of the absence of external weight/pressure on the skeletal system, this training is ideal for youth athlete muscular development as well.    Overall benefits for athletes include:

  • Improved CORE stability – video HERE
  • Improved range of motion
  • Improved strength
  • Improved muscle mass gain
  • Reduced future soreness
  • Reduced risk of injury
