To support our mission, and as a mobile version of our Pullman Yard model, ACP hosts PLAY DAY EXPERIENCES throughout the year at local city parks. PLAY DAY is a free, fun-filled day of sports, fitness, nutrition, education, arts, and sustainable initiatives where local coaches and organizations come together to facilitate activities, drills and games for various sports. Everyone is invited to join the fun.
We also run PLAY DAY after school programs around the city. Utilizing our local partnerships and coaches; we provide a multi sport, fitness, and nutritional education program for kids after school. Currently we provide programs at Mary Lin, Springdale Park, and Toomer Elementary Schools. We are also looking to provide programs on the West Side of Atlanta.
In 2014, ACP is teaming up with the Atlanta BeltLine, City of Atlanta Parks and Rec, and Park Pride to bring more PLAY DAYS around the city. In 2013 we partnered with over 100 organizations and coaches to promote the power of PLAY and the importance of eating right!
Upcoming 2014 PLAY DAY Schedule:
- Saturday, AUGUST 9th
- Sunday, SEPTEMBER 21st
Atlanta BeltLine PLAY DAY at Adair Park
- Sunday, OCTOBER 19th
Atlanta BeltLine PLAY DAY at H4W Skate Park Field, East Side Trail
Our completed PLAY DAY EXPERIENCE events already engaged communities in: Bessie Branham Park, Coan Park, Grant Park, Candler Park, Boulevard Crossing Park, Washington Park, and Piedmont Park.
PLAY DAY EXPERIENCE also offers healthy drinks and snacks, along with education on the importance of eating right. Also, PLAY DAY promotes environmental initiatives, including the vital role that solar power, water harvesting, recycling, and overall respect for the environment plays in a sustainable society.
At PLAY DAY there is something for everyone with more than 30 different activities happening to engage everybody on many levels.
The PLAY DAY EXPERIENCE is a mini version of Atlanta ContactPoint’s overall model for a multi-sport and trans-disciplinary complex at the Pullman Yard, located in the heart of Atlanta.
We are currently designing and developing in collaboration with ETIKA the 2015 PLAY DAY calendar, with more integrated and interdisciplinary community-engagement initiatives, culminating into a fun, free day of sports, fitness, performing arts, nutrition and social awareness.
